Ron Wallace became president of the Illinois Press Association Board of Directors during the board’s meeting Dec. 12. He succeeds Wendy Martin, editor of the Mason County Democrat in Havana.
Wallace has been general manager of The Herald-Whig in Quincy since Jan. 1, 2018. He also is vice president of newspapers for Quincy Media Inc., the parent company of The Herald-Whig.
Wallace joined the company in October 2013 after 10 years as publisher of the Daytona Beach (Florida) News-Journal and the Daily Commercial in Leesburg, Florida. He previously served as publisher of the Holland (Michigan) Sentinel. He also has held a variety of management roles in news, circulation, advertising, marketing and graphic arts during his 42-year newspaper career.
Also at the December board meeting, Scott Stone became the board’s vice president. Stone is president and chief operating officer of Daily Herald Media Group in Arlington Heights.
Paul Gaier, president of GateHouse Media’s Illinois operation and president and publisher of the Peoria Journal Star, was approved as a board member.
